Students and Politics

Students are the integral part of society. They play important role in making or breaking the values of society. Schools and colleges are the best places for the training of students. These schools and colleges should not work like factories, where the students may be treated like machines. Schools and colleges should be like gardens where student should be treated like plants which may bloom and blossom into flowers. Student’s personality has many facets: psychological, moral, social, political and educational. All these facets must be groomed intelligently both by parents and teachers.
Regarding student’ role, there are two views. Most people are of the view that student’s activities should be confined only to education and education alone. Most of the parents are scared of their sons’ participation in any social and political activities. They think that any extra curricular activity is mere wastage of time, money and manners. Their fears are not baseless. They history of students’ politics in our country has been checkered. Most of the students indulge in negative activities because of politics. Their characters become shoddy. Their career is tarnished and ultimately their future becomes bleak. Therefore, today polities is a forbidden field for good and intelligent students. Now this field has been left only for the rascal and rowdy youth. Today boys with negative thinking are leading the political scenario in college and universities.
However, there are some other people who hold different view. They think that confining students only to studies would not be fruitful for their future. Only book-reading and cramming mars student’s personality. A good education does not only mean passing on information. Formation should also go along with information. Students are human beings and not robots. They are to play their role in society after getting education. They are to become good citizen for this purpose. They are to learn tolerance, civic sense, sense of cooperation, art of discussion and speech and many others characteristics of head and heart. All these things can’t be learn by moral and intellectual norms in isolation. Merely bookworms youth would make no contribution to the development of society. Now the question is how students can attain these characteristics. Neither in factories, nor in forms and nor in offices. The only place suitable is schools, colleges and universities. These educational institutions can offer good opportunities for the realization of required characteristics. Colleges and universities provide different kinds of extra-curricular activities. There are sports, speech and debate competitions and other socio-literary activities. They are the best channels through which students can know current political, social and intellectual, religious, economic and cultural affairs. Through these organizations students can give good display to their speaking and discussing capabilities.
Now society can make headway without a sensible, sincere and strong leadership. In our country, leadership is emerging from one particular class. All important positions in the corridors of power are possessed by jageerdars and big lords. There is no scope for the emergence of middle class or lower middle class in the present political scenario. This deficiency can be met by colleges and universities through students unions. However, student’s political activities should be under strict watch. The college administration should encourage good and intelligent students to lead political activities. Bad and dull students must be shunted out from the arena of politics.

The Due Recognition of Constitution Day in Pakistan

Constitution Day of Pakistan has been celebrated since 2015. Former chairman Senate, Raza Rabbani, took this initiative to mark 10 th of April as our Constitution Day by highlighting the importance of land mark date of 10 th April. It is dilemma of our constitutional history that after the span of 42 years, we decided to celebrate our constitution day but better late than never. The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was passed by the Parliament on 10 th April and ratified on 14 th August, 1973. Americans usually observe Constitution Day on September 17 th , the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional convention signed the document in Philadelphia. The law establishing public holiday regarding this day was passed in 2004 with the passage of an amendment by Senator Robert Byrd [1] to the Omnibus Spending Bill of 2004. While Indian Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is celebrated on 26 th November of every year to commemorate the adopt...
Human rights(H.R) are the rights given to people protected under certain laws. Question is how Human rights can be implemented in letter and spirit??? H.R can be  implemented firstly by educating masses about their basic Human rights which can be done through media and secondly by providing those whose rights have been violated with adequate resources to adopt appropriate legal remedy which can then be done by providing free legal aid.

Welcome home Malala!

“ One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.” These lines of Malala Yousafzai circulated in my mind while writing an essay on education in my exams. Fortunately speaking, we have World’s youngest Nobel laureate, named Malala who advocated for girl’s education at a young age. She not only raised her voice in Pakistan but also around the globe. Voicing against the ban on girl’s education by Pakistani Taliban in Sawat and surviving a gunshot for her activism in 2012 was a life changing experience for her. After her recovery, she advocated for girls education at global level and met global leaders at international forums. There is no denying the fact that she do not lose any hope for her return back to Pakistan and continued her struggle. But the way, she is being treated on her return to Pakistan by anti-Malala campaign is embarrassing. After the successful Pakistan Super League event (that ended city wars on social media) but past couple of days creat...
