International Humanitarian Law And Technological Advancement In Weaponry International humanitarian law (IHL), based on the concepts of  jus ad bello , is defined to be the law of war. This means that the laws involved are meant to be active in a situation of armed conflict or during war. IHL is branch of public international law that deals with armed conflicts and its relationship with other states. It is defined as: “a set of rules which seek, for humanitarian reasons, to limit the effects of armed conflicts.
