The Due Recognition of Constitution Day in Pakistan

Constitution Day of Pakistan has been celebrated since 2015. Former chairman Senate, Raza Rabbani, took this initiative to mark 10 th of April as our Constitution Day by highlighting the importance of land mark date of 10 th April. It is dilemma of our constitutional history that after the span of 42 years, we decided to celebrate our constitution day but better late than never. The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was passed by the Parliament on 10 th April and ratified on 14 th August, 1973. Americans usually observe Constitution Day on September 17 th , the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional convention signed the document in Philadelphia. The law establishing public holiday regarding this day was passed in 2004 with the passage of an amendment by Senator Robert Byrd [1] to the Omnibus Spending Bill of 2004. Human rights(H.R) are the rights given to people protected under certain laws. Question is how Human rights can be implemented in letter and spirit??? H.R can be  implemented firstly by educating masses about their basic Human rights which can be done through media and secondly by providing those whose rights have been violated with adequate resources to adopt appropriate legal remedy which can then be done by providing free legal aid.

Welcome home Malala!

“ One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.” These lines of Malala Yousafzai circulated in my mind while writing an essay on education in my exams. Fortunately speaking, we have World’s youngest Nobel laureate, named Malala who advocated for girl’s education at a young age. She not only raised her voice in Pakistan but also around the globe. Voicing against the ban on girl’s education by Pakistani Taliban in Sawat and surviving a gunshot for her activism in 2012 was a life changing experience for her. After her recovery, she advocated for girls education at global level and met global leaders at international forums. There is no denying the fact that she do not lose any hope for her return back to Pakistan and continued her struggle. But the way, she is being treated on her return to Pakistan by anti-Malala campaign is embarrassing.
